I want to officially welcome all of you to the 2018-2019 School Year! For those of you who are new to our school, I want you to know that you are coming to an absolutely wonderful place. As you know, I came to Hatfield at the start of the 2015-16 school year and have been honored to serve you and your children in this role for the past three years. I am committed to the Mitchell community and firmly believe that all of our students are capable to grow and succeed.
Our teachers and staff are caring, innovative and always learning something new for the benefit of your children. We are a collaborative and driven group of educators who strive to help our students reach their highest potential.
I have enjoyed meeting many of you and look forward to our continued parntership in ensuring a productive and engaging educational experience for your child. I believe that building strong relationships between home and school is a key factor in increasing student achievement. As your principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. I strongly believe parental involvement is an essential component to student success, as research continues to show strong correlation between increased parental involvement and high student success.
School Hours: 8:20 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
In the interest of safety, please do not drop off your child before 7:50 a.m., as there is no supervision before that time. Also, please be sure to pick up your child by 2:45 p.m.
Our school day begins at 8:20 a.m. Students arriving after that time are tardy and need to be escorted into the building by an adult using the front entrance. Please be sure to have your child here on time. Students who are consistently tardy are at a clear disadvantage and usually arrive feeling frantic and unprepared. All students who arrive after 8:20 a.m. will be tardy and must sign in at the office with a parent. If your child will not be present, please call and inform the office at (812)849-3834.
Students dismissing to buses: The FRONT of the building is the dismissal location for children who ride the school bus. Staff members will escort the children out of the building at 2:50 p.m.
Students dismissing to private vehicles: The dismissal area for students being picked up after school will occur at the REAR of the building. Vehicles should enter the parking lot and follow the driveway behind Hatfield, circling to the left and making a single-file line, stopping at the south door. Staff members will be on duty to assist children in loading vehicles and escort children out of the building at 2:50 p.m.
