Due rapid rises in our COVID-19 related data, which includes student and staff absenteeism, number of positive cases among our students and staff, as well as the rapid growth in quarantine numbers, MCS is forced to go to an eLearning format beginning on Tuesday, January 18th through Friday, January 21st. Monday, January 17th will remain a “No School” day per the master calendar. Students will return to in-person learning on January 24th. Extra-curricular events and practices, including varsity basketball, scheduled from today, January 13th through January 21st will be rescheduled to the best of both school’s ability. Tomorrow night’s boy’s game against BNL has been rescheduled for February 15th. Rescheduled dates of other games will be announced as soon as possible.
When students and staff return on January 24th, MCS will be following updated CDC quarantine guidelines. These new guidelines will be posted on the school corporation website. The main difference in these updated guidelines is the shift from 10 day quarantine to a 5 day quarantine period.
Please know that moving to an eLearning format is an option that is not taken lightly. After keeping a close eye on the rapidly changing data this week, continued consultation with Lawrence County Health Officials, and MCS administration, moving to a four day eLearning period is the best option for our students, staff, and community. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
