Why is Mitchell Community Schools going one to one (One device for each student)?

  • Develops College and Career Ready Students with 21st Century Skill Set

  • Increases student engagement and student achievement

  • Develops independent/teamwork skills

  • Provides opportunity for more high school/junior high school course work than currently offered

Big Goal #1:

Personalizing Student Learning

  • Teachers grow into roles of adviser, content expert, and coach. Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun. 

  • Allows for more interesting, diverse, and current learning materials and provides opportunities for expressing understanding through images, sound, and text.

  • Offers students ways to experiment and observe phenomenon and to view results in graphic ways that aid in understanding

  • Increases student engagement, motivation and accelerates learning

  • Links teachers to their students and to content and resources that will improve and personalize learning

  • Expands course offerings, experiences, and learning materials

  • Supports learning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

  • Improves the student experience

Deepen learning by using 21st Century Skills in the classroom

  • Changes the way teachers teach, offering educators effective ways to reach different types of learners and assess student understanding through multiple means

  • Students acquire and refine their analysis and problem-solving skills as they work individually and in teams to find, process, and synthesize information they've found online.

  • Routinely deepens and enhances the learning process. active engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback, and connection to real-world experts.
