Over the last two weeks, our students have been busy learning, creating, communicating, and making connections!
Students have been immersed in foundational literacy skills, real-world reading comprehension, and writing—drafting ideas and learning how to add details and meaning to their work. They’ve also been exploring art through different media, geometric shapes, and creative expression.
A HUGE shout-out to our amazing Hatfield teachers for creating engaging, meaningful, real-world learning opportunities and for helping students make connections between literature, art, communication, and collaboration.
We are incredibly proud of the young minds developing at Hatfield each and every day! Keep learning, creating, and growing, Bluejackets!

We’re sharing this a little early to give our Hatfield families plenty of time to prepare for our College GO Week Spirit Days, September 21–25! Each day has a fun theme, from Military Monday to College Spirit Friday. Check out the graphic for all the details!
And, of course, the week of September 21st also happens to be Persimmon Festival Week… WOOHOO! 🎉🍂 It’s going to be a BIG week in Mitchell, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our Hatfield students!

Reminder: Scheduled Two-Hour Delay for Wednesday, September 16th!
MCS will be holding planned two-hour delay days on certain Wednesdays of select months: September 16th, October 7th, December 9th, January 13th, February 10th, and April 7th. These days give teachers valuable time for collaboration and professional development to support student learning.
For Two-Hour Delays At Hatfield:
Car rider drop-off begins at 9:50 AM in the back.
Buses unload at the front at 10:00 AM.
No breakfast will be served on delay days due to lunch prep schedules.
Students may ride the bus or be dropped off—just two hours later than usual.

Our Burris-Hatfield PTO Fundraiser is continuing for ONE MORE WEEK, and our Hatfield students are absolutely CRUSHING IT! We have officially raised OVER $11,000 so far! These funds will help provide our students with field trips, fun events, and exciting experiences throughout the school year!
And… apparently, at least 6 Hatfield students have already earned the opportunity to COLOR BOMB MR. FOUNTAIN!
I can't wait! 😳 Take a look at the picture from last year's Color Bomb experience. Let's just say… I think I can still taste the color dust! 😂

Hatfield, you brought the ENERGY today! I hope our students had as much fun as I did kicking off our PTO Color Run for Fun – Field Trips for Everyone Fundraiser!

Kindergarten students in Ms. Ramey's class explored apples through hands-on observation and inquiry...and even explored a new vocabulary word thanks to a classmate - "DENSITY!" Wow, Kindergarteners!
Mrs. Whaley's Second Grade students engaged in a Four Corners interactive activity, sharing ideas, defending their thinking, and learning from one another.
Mrs. Randolph's First Grade class practiced phonics through a fun Magic Finger Writing and Sounds activity, building strong literacy skills while making learning engaging and interactive.
Hatfield students are growing as problem-solvers, communicators, and teammates! We aren't just teaching academic skills...We're building tomorrow's leaders, thinkers, and collaborators! Our students are always learning, always growing, and always discovering what they're capable of!

What an AMAZING first week at Happy Hatfield!
Our Hatfield students have already jumped right into learning! From establishing classroom routines and procedures to practicing writing skills, reviewing math concepts, and building strong classroom communities, our students have been hard at work. Even more importantly, they've been learning what it means to work together as a TEAM.
At Hatfield, one of our biggest goals is teaching the value of collaboration. We believe teamwork helps us become not only stronger learners but also kinder, more compassionate humans. Through engaging lessons, exploring great literature, asking questions, experimenting, playing, and learning that it's okay to fail forward, we're growing together as one big Happy Hatfield family.
A huge shoutout to our incredible teachers, instructional assistants, office staff, custodians, cafeteria team, bus drivers, and everyone behind the scenes who made this first week so successful. And thank you to our amazing families for your partnership and support. We couldn't do it without you! Here's to an incredible year of learning and growing together. It's going to be the BEST YEAR EVER!
