Today our Hatfield First Graders had a great time celebrating Pizza with the Principal! We enjoyed our meal in the Art Room, surrounded by amazing student-created artwork, while chatting about pizza, how awesome our school lunches are, and our plans for Fall Break 2026!

Reminder: Scheduled Two-Hour Delay for Wednesday, October 7th!
MCS will be holding planned two-hour delay days on certain Wednesdays of select months: October 7th, December 9th, January 13th, February 10th, and April 7th. These days give teachers valuable time for collaboration and professional development to support student learning.
For Two-Hour Delays At Hatfield:
Car rider drop-off begins at 9:50 AM in the back.
Buses unload at the front at 10:00 AM.
No breakfast will be served on delay days due to lunch prep schedules.
Students may ride the bus or be dropped off—just two hours later than usual.
During these scheduled two-hour delays, teachers and staff will participate in valuable professional development meetings about reading, writing and math instruction, school safety, and social-emotional learning from 8:00-10:00 AM.

🍂 Winding Down Persimmon Festival Week at Hatfield! 🍂
What a wonderful week at Hatfield Elementary! Our students have enjoyed celebrating College Go Week with our fun Dress Up Days while also learning more about what makes our community so special... The Persimmon!
From persimmon trees to the fruit itself to persimmon pudding, our students have been getting creative and celebrating a tradition that makes Mitchell such a special place to call home. Enjoy a little peek at their artwork!
As we wrap up the week, I encourage our Hatfield Family to get out and enjoy the festival on Saturday if you have the opportunity! From the community breakfast and 5K to the car and motorcycle shows, pudding contests, carnival rides, and local nonprofit food tents, there's something for everyone. And, of course, enjoy the Grand Parade and entertainment on the Main Stage! Our community will be shining! Have a wonderful Persimmon Festival weekend, everyone!

If the color brown isn't in the plan for tomorrow, remember that our final dress up day for College Go Week is College Spirit Day (wear your favorite college/university clothes or colors). We look forward to seeing all kinds of great College Spirit!

🍂Persimmon Seed Predictions in Kindergarten!🍂
Mrs. Lee’s kindergarten students are kicking off Persimmon Festival Week by becoming our newest winter weather predictors! 🍁❄️
As the story goes, persimmon seeds have been a great indicator of what winter weather might look like around Mitchell. Our young investigators got to squish through some persimmon pulp, learn about the different shapes they might find inside a persimmon seed, and practice matching seeds to spoons, knives, and forks!
Look out, folks! The verdict is in, and these seeds provided LOTS of spoons and knives! If the persimmon seed is right (like it usually is 😉), we may have a few snow days in our future!

Students have been immersed in foundational literacy skills, real-world reading comprehension, and writing—drafting ideas and learning how to add details and meaning to their work. They’ve also been exploring art through different media, geometric shapes, and creative expression.
A HUGE shout-out to our amazing Hatfield teachers for creating engaging, meaningful, real-world learning opportunities and for helping students make connections between literature, art, communication, and collaboration.

And… apparently, at least 6 Hatfield students have already earned the opportunity to COLOR BOMB MR. FOUNTAIN!
